PalmaMÉS per Palma has denounced this Friday the serious degradation of diversity and equality public policies promoted by the PP municipal government after the association Ben Amics announced the cancellation of the LGTBI+ Pride party in Palma due to the City Council's lack of planning and coordination. The party considers this situation to be the direct consequence of "the political apathy of Mayor Jaime Martínez and the systematic dismantling" of LGTBI+ policies promoted by the PP since the beginning of the legislature.

The councilor of MÉS per Palma, Miquel Àngel Contreras, stated that “the cancellation of Pride is an institutional shame and shows that Jaime Martínez's government has decided to abandon the LGTBI+ collective and leave Palma without leadership in the defense of rights and freedoms”. Contreras criticized that “the PP governs with its back to the entities and has made inaction, silence, and lack of commitment its official policy on diversity matters”. In this regard, he recalled that during this term, the sexual and gender diversity workshops of PalmaEduca have also been eliminated, which ’demonstrates a clear strategy of regression in rights and the dismantling of awareness policies”.“The problem is not just the inability to manage an event as important as Pride. The problem is that behind this neglect there is a political decision: to make the collective invisible and to assume the ideological framework of the extreme right”, assured the ecosovereign councilor. From MÉS per Palma they warn that Palma is experiencing “a worrying democratic and social setback” and accuse the PP of turning equality policies into “the first victims of pacts and the ideological pressure of the most reactionary right”.
