PalmAbout twenty people gathered this Sunday in Puigpunyent to protest against a Vox information booth, with shouts of "out fascists" directed at the participants. The action led to the presence of several Civil Guard patrols, a deployment that surprised part of the neighborhood, who considered it disproportionate. "I've never seen so many Civil Guard in my life" or "I can't believe it," commented some residents, while another joked: "maybe they've come to protect us."
The PSOE of Puigpunyent and Galilea have defended coexistence in the municipality and have criticized both the presence of outsiders who, they claim, "come to break peaceful coexistence with constant provocations," and the police action. The socialists consider the Civil Guard's intervention, with up to five vehicles, "excessive" in an act they describe as peaceful, and lament that in other situations in the municipality there isn't the same speed due to a lack of personnel. In their statement, they claim Puigpunyent and Galilea as spaces for coexistence and call for the defense of human rights, feminism, and culture.
For their part, Vox has condemned the events and has denounced insults, provocations, and intimidating attitudes from a group they describe as "separatist radicals." The party's coordinator in the municipality, Ángel Sanmartín, has stated that about fifteen people with Esteladas approached the booth to repeatedly heckle them. He also reported obscene gestures from one of the protest participants.
Several Vox leaders were present at the information booth, including the president of the Balearic Parliament, Gabriel Le Senne; the spokesperson in the Palma City Council, Fulgencio Coll; and the councilor in the Consell de Mallorca, David Gil.
