The Council spends 5,000 euros on umbrellas to give as gifts to the elderly
The institution awarded the contract to Katacrack Shirts, but the published resolution does not specify how many units it acquired nor what their individual price was
PalmaThe Council of Mallorca is now prepared for the rainy days approaching this autumn: the island institution has spent 4,999.72 euros on corporate umbrellas. The Presidency department explains that these gifts are mostly distributed to the elderly during the activities in which they participate, although the contract documentation does not specify the number of units acquired nor at which events they have been distributed.
The executive councilor of the Presidency awarded the minor contract on December 3, 2025, to the company Katacrack Shirts SL. The invoice identifies the product simply as “Osaka umbrella supply” and sets a total amount of 4,999.72 euros, VAT included.
The Osaka model appears in the Stamina brand catalog distributed by KTKShirts, the trade name of the awarded company. It is a long umbrella, 107 centimeters in diameter, with automatic opening, an anti-wind system, and fiberglass ribs. It is available in black, navy blue, and lead color and allows for the incorporation of logos and other corporate elements.
The resolution recognizing the payment obligation, however, does not allow knowing how many umbrellas the Council obtained for the nearly 5,000 euros paid. Nor does it break down the unit price, the cost of personalization, or shipping expenses. The catalog prices consulted from various distributors vary considerably depending on the order volume and the type of printing, which is why it is not possible to accurately calculate the number of units acquired based solely on the total amount.
The water will no longer catch, at least some of the participants in island activities, by surprise.
