The Government allocates 5.58 million from the ITS to improve the water infrastructures of 11 municipalities of the Serra

The actions include new reservoirs and wells, renewal of pipes, leak detection, digitalization of networks and improvements to sanitation

PalmaThe Government will invest 5.58 million euros from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) to reinforce the water cycle infrastructures of eleven municipalities in the Serra de Tramuntana. The actions aim to guarantee supply, increase reserve capacity, reduce leaks, and improve sanitation and drainage networks.

The investment package was presented this Thursday at the Raixa estate by the Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, together with the Director General of Water Resources, Joan Calafat, and representatives of the beneficiary municipalities.

Among the planned actions are the construction of new reservoirs and wells, the renovation of pipes and drinking water networks, the installation of remote reading and remote management systems, and various works to improve drainage capacity in the face of intense rainfall episodes.

The actions, municipality by municipality

The investment package will reach eleven municipalities in the Serra with actions adapted to the needs of each municipal network. In Banyalbufar, the Government will allocate 351,202 euros to renovate the drinking water, sanitation, and rainwater networks in the urban center. The works will also allow the Font de la Menta to be connected to the municipal reservoir of Les Roquetes, an action intended to reinforce the municipality's supply system.

In Bunyola, the investment will be 803,526 euros and will be used to build a new drinking water reservoir with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters. The new infrastructure will allow the municipality's reserve capacity to be increased and, at the same time, reinforce the supply for the Joan March Hospital.

In the case of Deià, the 395,376 euros planned will be dedicated to reinforcing the water supply system and reducing its vulnerability to drought episodes. In Escorca, with an investment of 346,064 euros, the drinking water and rainwater collection facilities of Sa Calobra will be modernized. The project also includes the incorporation of digitization and remote management systems for meters, reservoirs, and municipal wells, with the aim of improving the control and management of available resources.

Esporles will receive 422,330 euros to renovate the drinking water, sanitation, and rainwater networks in several streets and improve their drainage capacity. In Estellencs, the 321,450 euros will be used to prepare the necessary infrastructure for a future desalination plant and to reinforce the municipal supply network.

In Fornalutx, the planned investment is 319,440 euros. The project includes the replacement of approximately one kilometer of the pipeline that transports water from La Costera, a key infrastructure for the municipality's supply, in addition to the implementation of intelligent network management systems.

Pollença will concentrate two actions totaling 1.05 million euros. On one hand, 4,862 residential meters will be renovated and remote reading and leak detection systems will be expanded, with the aim of having more precise control of consumption and reducing water losses. On the other hand, 360 meters of the general supply pipeline for Port de Pollença will be renovated.

The rest of the beneficiary municipalities will complete this package of actions with projects focused on improving supply and sanitation networks, increasing reserve capacity, and modernizing water management.
