PalmThe People's Party (PP) and Vox will reject a comprehensive amendment proposed by left-wing groups next Tuesday to block the repeal of the Democratic Memory Law. This is an attempt by the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands (PSIB), Más per Mallorca, Más per Menorca, and Unidas Podemos to maintain the law after the PP renewed its push for its elimination to appease Vox. "We are very calm," said the spokesperson for the far-right party, Manuela Cañadas, who expressed confidence that the PP "will keep its word." The PP rejected Vox's first attempt to abolish the law in exchange for the left's support for the flood zones decree, and a second attempt to correct the erroneous approval of 50 Vox amendments to the Administrative Simplification Law. That move led to a break in relations with the far right. But after regaining their parliamentary alliance, the PP dissolved the pact with the left and agreed to process the repeal of the Democratic Memory Law again.

In fact, the spokesperson for Més per Menorca, Josep Castells, emphasized that the debate will serve to "remind the Government" that it "deceived" them. "We only managed to reach one agreement during the entire legislature, and they decided to break it," he remarked. The leader of Más per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, also described it as "a new episode in the race between 'fascists' and 'super-fascists'." "The PP is once again bowing to Vox's obsessions, in this case against democratic memory," he said. Similarly, the Socialist spokesperson, Iago Negueruela, criticized the Government for "allowing Vox to set the political agenda."

Unanimous decision to pay tribute to the victims of the bombings in the Civil War

Parliament has also urged the Balearic Government, with the support of all parties, to organize an official ceremony to recognize and honor all civilian victims of the bombings that took place in the Balearic Islands during the Spanish Civil War, "without distinction of sides." This was approved in a non-binding resolution presented by Socialist MP Àlex Pitaluga at the meeting of the Committee on Institutional and General Affairs, as reported by Europa Press.
