Socialist MP Omar Lamin has denounced the regional government's refusal to cooperate for partisan reasons, although it will likely soon need the same institutional solidarity it is now rejecting. According to Lamin, the government is "boycotting" spaces for dialogue promoted by the state, at a time when the Mediterranean migration route is gaining prominence.

The PSIB (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) has filed a non-legislative motion in Parliament to strengthen the fight against hate speech and reject Vox's proposed mass deportation plan, which could affect eight million people.

Lamin condemned the recent episodes of harassment and xenophobic attacks against Torre Pacheco and accused the far right of fostering a climate of hatred that the right "passively accepts."

The party stressed that these proposed expulsions violate fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution and reiterates its "absolute repulsion" at any form of racism, persecution, or targeting.

Measures

Among the proposed measures, the Socialists urge Parliament to reject Vox's plan and reclaim the Islands as a welcoming community. They also propose that IB3 implement a tool to verify fake news about migration and other vulnerable groups and strengthen the dissemination of truthful content that reflects reality.

The PSIB has also proposed that the Government take legal action in all cases involving attacks, hate speech, or any type of discrimination against migrants, in defense of the public interest.
