Rafael Nadal's uncle, at the PP conference: "In Mallorca, we speak Catalan, that's what the philologists say."
The former tennis coach has been invited this Friday to the opening ceremony of the state party congress.
PalmToni Nadal, Rafael Nadal's former coach and uncle, spoke this Friday at the 21st National Congress of the People's Party (PP), where he stated that politicians "should not interfere in all areas of society." Nadal, who was invited to the opening session of the congress, being held this weekend in Madrid, held a conversation with Noelia Núñez, the People's Party's Undersecretary for Mobilization and the Digital Challenge. "I once said to a local politician: Why are you intervening in the issue of language? When I said that in Mallorca we spoke Mallorcan. In Mallorca we speak Catalan, that's what the philologists say. If there's a philologist, the politician shouldn't intervene. I think interfering too much and politicizing everything does a disservice to society."

During his speech, Nadal also pointed out that democracy "cannot become a dictatorship of winners against losers" and expressed his support for "changing the democratic system." He also criticized the country for being "in the hands" of "people who hate Spain" and emphasized that the "main" issue to combat is not "economic corruption" but rather "ideological corruption."
Thus, the former coach recommended that Feijóo surround himself with a "good team" and steer clear of "confrontation," warning him that the next Spanish prime minister is facing "one of the most important matches of his life." "If you're not prepared to accept the sentence, don't commit the crime, it's that simple. That's why he chose him, because he believes he's prepared to accept the sentence," he emphasized.
Nadal also insisted that "the best country in the world is one whose citizens are the best in the world" and warned: "Is the PP the best party? This will depend on all of them," addressing those attending the congress. "If they don't act correctly, the PP won't be the best party at all."
