PalmThe conflict between the PP and Vox has once again become evident in the Balearic Parliament. The far-right party has voted against all the amendments presented by the PP, some 80, to the strategic projects law, known as the omnibus law, during the debate of the Committee on Finance and Budgets this Tuesday. The move leaves a package of key measures for the legislature in suspense and is seen as a clear warning from Vox to the Government of Marga Prohens. The decision means that several prominent proposals will be blocked or will have to be debated again. Among these amendments are tax reductions to expand the thresholds for the Property Transfer Tax (ITP) bonus, to reduce the tax on Documented Legal Acts (AJD), as well as a 50% reduction in both ITP and AJD for the purchase of limited-price housing.

The package also included the possibility of shielding the legalization of housing on rural land and modifications in areas such as administrative management, energy, and agriculture. Furthermore, Vox's negative vote has left in limbo the deduction proposed by the Government to avoid increases in rental contracts that are renewed this year.

The PP also registered a battery of amendments aimed at reducing bureaucratic burdens and streamlining the creation of social services, such as the outsourcing of certain bureaucratic procedures, among others.

Despite the political blow, sources from Vox qualify that it is not a definitive rejection. The party assures that the vote against is a move to force negotiation with the PP, in a context of growing tension between both formations that once again highlights the fragility of the parliamentary majority.

In particular, Vox has not supported these amendments arguing that they were not agreed upon and that to have their vote, another negotiation space would have to be opened. In this way, Santiago Abascal's party has rejected the approximately 80 amendments from the popular party, since, as they have said, the agreement focused on the amendments presented by Vox. Now, these amendments remain pending and will be debated again in committee, where, Vox has warned, if there is no agreement, they will vote against them again.
