Xenophobic propaganda in Inca: "Against their submission, 'remigration'"
Podemos will file a formal complaint with the Inca Duty Court
PalmSeveral streets in Inca appeared this Monday plastered with xenophobic propaganda. The posters bore the message: "Against their submission, 'remigration.' The Inca that refuses to die." According to Podemos Inca, these posters, whose authorship is still unknown, "explicitly target and stigmatize the Muslim community and promote a discourse of exclusion and hatred." The party will file a formal complaint with the Inca duty court so that these acts can be investigated and any potential criminal liability for incitement to hatred determined. They are also requesting that the Inca City Council immediately remove these posters and refer the case to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
According to critics, these events add to the recent "racist campaigns against the Muslim community promoted by Vox," such as the appearance of neo-Nazi symbols in graffiti on the Génova road in Palma, and the vandalism attacks against the bust of Aurora Picornell shortly before the debate on the repeal of the Democratic Memory Law in Parliament.
Podemos recalls that, following the racist billboards installed by Vox last September, the city council approved an amendment to the ordinance regulating advertising installations and activities. The aim was to incorporate specific measures to prevent the dissemination of discriminatory, hateful, or violent messages in public spaces. This regulatory update was precisely intended to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. These new advertisements have been placed on street furniture and unauthorized supports, meaning that, regardless of their content, they already constitute a violation of municipal regulations. For Podemos, this escalation of hate acts is not accidental, but rather reflects the growing shift of institutions towards the far right, fostering a climate in which these types of symbolic attacks find greater impunity and wider dissemination.
