PalmaA 17-year-old girl has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mateu Orfila hospital after suffering an accident during the Sant Bartomeu de Ferreries festivities. The minor was hit by a horse and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

The incident took place this Monday morning in the pla de l'Església, one of the locations where the traditional horse events of the Ferreries festivities are held. According to municipal sources, the young woman was struck by a horse and lost her balance. During the fall, she sustained a strong impact to the head, although it has not yet been determined whether the blow was against the ground or a wall.

Sources from the Menorca Health Area have confirmed that the minor was transferred to Mateu Orfila hospital, where she was admitted to the ICU due to the traumatic brain injury. Ferreries is celebrating its traditional Sant Bartomeu festivities these days, with the horse jaleos as one of the most prominent moments of the festive program.

The horse events attract numerous participants and spectators to the streets and squares of the municipality every year. This Monday's accident occurred precisely during the jaleos day planned as part of the festivities.
