Former CEO of Juaneda acquitted of disloyal management
The Prosecutor's Office withdraws the accusation upon verifying that there was no economic damage and that the invoices corresponded to real work
PalmThe former CEO of Juaneda, Juan Alguersuari, has been acquitted of a crime of disloyal administration after all charges against him were dropped this Monday. The trial, which was to be held at the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands, was rendered ineffective at the start of the oral hearing.
The Public Prosecutor's Office announced the withdrawal of the accusation, to which the private party had already previously renounced, and has desisted from the presentation of evidence. The Public Ministry has justified the decision based on documents agreed between the defense and the private prosecution at the end of the year, in which it is recognized that the investigated economic operations did not cause any harm to the healthcare group and that the questioned invoices corresponded to work actually performed.
According to the prosecutor, in case of discrepancies regarding business management, these should be settled in the civil or commercial sphere, and not in the criminal jurisdiction.
Alguersuari initially faced a sentence of four years in prison for an alleged diversion of invoices from the healthcare network in his favor for an amount exceeding two million euros, through a holding company that he managed.
