Aemet activates the yellow warning for heat in Mallorca and the Pitiüses with maximums of up to 38 degrees
Emergencies raises the alert to orange for high temperatures in Mallorca and maintains the yellow level in Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera
PalmaThe Balearic Islands face a new day of intense heat this Saturday. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the yellow alert for high temperatures in the Pitiusas and in several areas of Mallorca at 12:00 PM, where maximums could reach 38 degrees.
The alert will be active until 7:59 PM and affects the interior, north, and northeast of Mallorca, although high values can also be reached in some parts of the south and east of the island. According to Aemet's forecasts, maximum temperatures could be between 36 and 38 degrees.
In Ibiza and Formentera, the yellow alert will also be in effect during the afternoon, with maximum temperatures that could reach 36 degrees.
Orange alert in Mallorca
Given this situation, the Directorate General of Emergencies has activated the orange alert — IG-1 of the Meteobal Plan — for high temperatures in Mallorca. In Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the yellow alert — IG-0 — has been established.
The situation requires extreme precautions during the central hours of the day, especially among people most vulnerable to high temperatures.
The authorities recommend avoiding direct sun exposure during the hottest hours, staying well hydrated, and taking extreme precautions during outdoor physical activities.
