An 81-year-old British tourist dies drowned on a beach in Ibiza
The lifeguards and several health workers have tried to resuscitate her for more than an hour, but they have not been able to save her life
PalmaAn 81-year-old British tourist died this Tuesday by drowning at the Arenal Gros beach, in the Ibizan municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja.
Lifeguards were the first to intervene and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers, according to the Sant Joan City Council. A doctor, a nurse, and a firefighter who were in the area joined the resuscitation efforts.
These people continued with basic CPR for 25 minutes, until SAMU 061 personnel arrived, who continued with advanced resuscitation maneuvers for approximately half an hour.
Despite their efforts, health services could not do anything to save the woman's life and certified her death at 5:30 p.m.
A Civil Guard patrol arrived at the beach around 6 p.m. to take charge of the corresponding procedures.
