Apartment owners in the same building fined more than 300,000 euros for illegal tourist rentals in Palma.
The island institution has indicated that the apartments in which the fraudulent tourist rentals were carried out have ceased their activity.
PalmThe Tourism Department of the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council) has imposed and notified fines totaling more than €300,000 on a building in Palma where several properties were found to be engaged in illegal tourist rentals without a license.
Specifically, according to a statement, the Tourism Sanctions Department has concluded the corresponding sanctioning proceedings for tourism violations in a building located in the Levante district of the city. The Regional Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, expressed his satisfaction with the actions carried out by the Inspection and Sanctions Service and emphasized that "illegal offers, regardless of the sector in which they operate, not only represent unfair competition that is very harmful to all those who do things well, which is the vast majority, but also...
In this regard, Rodríguez added that these sanctions are the result of extensive work within the department, which has included an "internal reorganization to make its actions more efficient, scrupulously complying with all administrative processes," and which has allowed "just as the legal deadlines dictate," to fight the wolf. In this case, it is worth noting that it has been confirmed that practically all of the sanctioned homes have ceased their illegal tourism activity, an aspect that clearly demonstrates the actions of the Department of Tourism, focused on effectively dissuading individuals or entities that engage in practices prohibited by law from ceasing their activity in accordance with legality and thus protecting residents.
