Arrested for threatening his wife in Playa de Palma: "I will kill you with the axe"

PalmaThe National Police have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of threats and assault on authority, after he threatened to go to his partner's home with an axe to kill her. According to the police report, the man told the woman, among other expressions: "I will kill you with the axe".

The events took place this Monday, around 10:00 p.m., and given the seriousness of the threat, several patrols from the Citizen Assistance Group traveled to the scene and located the woman, who stated that she had received death threats from the man, reported the Superior Headquarters of the Balearic Islands.

The officers then headed to the man's home, in Playa de Palma, whom they urged to come out. He did open the door, but refused to cooperate and closed it again while showing a violent attitude towards the agents.

At one point, they observed the man grabbing a long, blunt object and striking it against the interior of the home. Shortly after, he appeared with an axe in his hand and approached the agents, who drew their regulation weapons to maintain distance and prevent him from getting closer.

The man then grabbed several knives and, subsequently, used a pepper spray canister from inside the home and directed the product towards the police officers. He also threw glass jars at them from a window.

Smoke in the home

When the officers observed smoke coming from inside the dwelling and a strong smell of burning plastic, they finally managed to access the property, where they located the man with respiratory difficulties due to the spray gases.

He was subdued and arrested. During the intervention, he maintained strong resistance, struggled, and struck the officers. Several police officers had to receive medical assistance for the injuries sustained.

In the subsequent search of the dwelling, the patrols located, among other effects, the axe and two pocket knives.
