Bunyola will have a public residence with 120 places in the first semester of 2027
The center, located in la Coma, has meant an investment of 13.8 million euros and has already finished the works
PalmaThe future public residence of Bunyola will have 120 places for elderly people in situations of dependency and is scheduled to become operational during the first half of 2027. The works for the new center, which will become the first public residence in the municipality, have already been completed, as reported this Thursday by the Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care.
The construction of the residence has involved an investment of 13.8 million euros. The center is located on a plot in the Coma urbanization and has more than 5,500 square meters of constructed area.
The building is distributed into six modules, with differentiated spaces for rooms, general services, and different care areas, in addition to exterior garden areas. The works are already finished and the Administration is currently working on the tender for the furniture and equipment necessary to start up the center.
The president of the Majorcan Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS) and Minister of Social Welfare, Guillermo Sánchez, has assured that the Bunyola residence represents "an important step" in the expansion of the public residential care network. Sánchez also pointed out that IMAS is working so that this network "continues to grow" and so that elderly people who need residential care can receive comprehensive care, with the support they need.
Single and double rooms
The new residence will offer residential care services and comprehensive assistance, with provisions for accommodation, board, hygiene, attention, and support for daily living activities.
Among the facilities there will be single and double rooms with bathroom and shower, geriatric bathrooms, living rooms, and sociocultural spaces. The center will also have an infirmary, a control unit, and specific spaces for occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation, as well as areas for medical care, social work, and psychology.
The residence will also have hairdressing and podiatry services, a kitchen, a laundry, and other general services necessary for the operation of the center. With the completion of the works, the project is now entering the final phase before opening, with the incorporation of furniture and equipment. The Ministry's forecast is that the 120 residential places could be operational during the first six months of 2027.
