Calvià will receive 16.8 million from the ITS to renovate public spaces and reinforce security in Magaluf
More than 8.8 million will be allocated to seven urban renovation, coastline and heritage projects, while almost 8 million will go to a new safety and responsible tourism plan in Magaluf
PalmaCalvià will receive 16.8 million euros from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) corresponding to the 2026-2027 Annual Plan. Of this amount, 8.8 million will be allocated to seven municipal projects for urban renewal, renaturalization, and heritage recovery, while nearly 8 million will fund specific actions in Magaluf.
The largest allocation in the first block, 2.4 million euros, will be for the second phase of the landscaping improvement of the Santa Ponça seafront. The project includes the demolition of concrete structures, coastal protection with riprap, a 588-meter walkway, and the planting of native species.
The Peguera boulevard will receive 2.38 million to renew water networks, expand pedestrian space, install LED lighting, and deploy fiber optics. In Es Capdellà, 1.55 million will be used to rehabilitate the Ca ses Monges convent, built in 1888, and convert it into a multifunctional center for cultural activities.
The funds will also allow for the renaturalization of Cala Blanca, in Costa de la Calma, with 1.26 million; the construction of a new public parking lot in Santa Ponça, with 598,000 euros; the creation of a fixed stage at Son Caliu park, with 500,000 euros; and the recovery of El Mago beach and Caló del Rei, in Portals Vells, with 100,000 euros.
Nearly 8 million for Magaluf
The remaining 7.99 million will be concentrated on the project ‘Improvement of inspection, safety and awareness for responsible tourism in Magaluf II’. The investment will serve to increase the number of Local Police officers, improve security and video surveillance systems, and reinforce the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE).
The project also includes new actions for the ‘Magaluf for All’ campaign and the modernization of municipal infrastructure. According to the City Council, ITS funds have contributed in recent years to the “repositioning” of Magaluf, with actions regarding public services and the tourist image of the area.
