PalmThe coordinator of the file for the declaration of Talayotic Menorca as a World Heritage Site, Cipriano Marín, presented his resignation on Wednesday from continuing to be a member of the Scientific Council, according to sources from the entity.

Marín has sent a letter to the island's Minister of Culture and Heritage, Joan Pons Torres, in which he gives the reasons for his resignation, which is added to thealready formalized also by the director of the Menorca Talayotic Agency, Antoni Ferrer.

The latter resigned last Friday in protest at the political use the Consell de Menorca government had made of his report in favor of the corrective measures proposed to mitigate the impact of the Rafal Rubí viaduct on the area's prehistoric navetas.

Talayotic Menorca, which includes 280 sites from the period, was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in September 2023.
