Cruise ship arrivals in the Balearic Islands increased by 6.7% compared to the previous year.

According to figures from State Ports, total traffic in the Islands reached 9.18 million users, with more than 6.7 million on regular routes.

PalmThe Balearic Islands' ports welcomed over 2.4 million cruise passengers between January and October, a 6.7% increase compared to the same period last year. A total of 737 ships arrived during these months, 45 more than the previous year (+6.5%). It's worth noting that this increase occurred despite current regulations limiting cruise ship arrivals to Palma to 3 ships and a total of 8,000 passengers per day. Regarding regular ferry services and cruises, according to data published by State Ports, total traffic in the Islands reached 9.18 million passengers, comprising over 6.7 million regular ferry passengers (-2.7%) and the aforementioned cruise passengers. This overall figure is 0.3% lower than that recorded in 2014. In October, the total number of passengers reached 884,553. Of these, 547,650 traveled on scheduled passenger services and 336,903 on cruise ships. Meanwhile, 112 cruise ships called at the Balearic Islands in October, representing a 3.7% year-on-year increase.

Furthermore, all the ports in the Balearic Islands handled 15.2 million tons between January and October 2025, a 4% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. In October alone, they handled 1.5 million tons. General cargo saw a 4.5% increase in the first ten months of the year, reaching 13.5 million tons. Liquid cargo traffic rose by 4.3% (almost 1.5 million tons), while roll-on/roll-off traffic grew by 4.5%, approaching 13.3 million tons.

At the national level, Spanish ports received 11.8 million cruise passengers between January and October, 12.5% more than in the same period of the previous year, while 4,366 ships called during this period, an increase of 706 (+19.3%). Total traffic reached 36.8 million passengers, with more than 25 million on scheduled services (+1.5%) and the aforementioned cruise passengers. Overall, this figure is 4.8% higher than the same period of the previous year. In October alone, total passengers reached 3.5 million. Of these, 1.9 million traveled on scheduled services (+0.9%) and 1.6 million were cruise passengers (+17.7%), according to data published by State Ports.
