Driver arrested who fatally hit a cyclist in Pollença and fled
The man, 30 years old, presented himself voluntarily to the police station
PalmaThe Civil Guard has arrested the driver who ran over a cyclist of about 84 years old this Monday on the Pollença road and fled the scene.
According to sources from the Armed Institute, it is a 30-year-old man of Moroccan origin who was arrested this Monday at 5:30 p.m. after voluntarily going to the Civil Guard offices.
The detainee is at these offices and is expected to be brought before the court this Tuesday or, failing that, on Wednesday morning.
It should be recalled that a cyclist of about 84 years old died this Monday after being run over by a car, which fled. The accident, as reported by SAMU 061, took place at 07.55 hours at kilometer 54 of the Dt.-2200.
Apparently, the car had overtaken a bicycle and, when it tried to return to the correct lane, it ran over the cyclist, who was thrown several meters and collided with a ditch located on one of the sides of the road.
Although the paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, they could do nothing to save his life and confirmed his death.
