PalmThe Esporles City Council approved this Friday a municipal decree with urgent measures to address the exceptional situation of lack of rainfall and increased water consumption affecting the municipality.

The City Council has noted that since April, information campaigns have been launched to raise public awareness about the need to reduce water consumption. However, in recent days, water intake points have decreased.

Municipal proclamation

Thus, to guarantee the supply of water for human consumption and hygiene, the City Council has established a complete ban on the use of drinking water from the municipal network for irrigating private gardens, orchards, trees, green areas, and sports facilities (except when using treated water). Also prohibited is the cleaning of private roads, terraces, patios, or similar facilities (except with treated water); the filling or refurbishing of private swimming pools; and any other ornamental, recreational, or recreational use of water.

These measures, which until now were in effect in the Les Rogetes and Jardí de Flors residential areas, affect the entire municipality. The restrictions will be in effect until further notice and may be extended depending on the evolution of water reserves. If necessary, temporary supply cuts could even be imposed. The Esporles City Council reminds everyone that failure to comply with these restrictions is regulated by the Municipal Regulations on the Water Supply Service (BOIB No. 20, of February 8, 2011) and calls for the cooperation of all citizens to preserve an essential resource and guarantee its basic supply to all.
