Esporles tenders for almost 98,000 euros a new well to guarantee water in Les Rotgetes and Jardín de Flores
The project plans to drill a borehole of up to 280 meters deep after a breakdown left one of the two current wells out of service
PalmThe Esporles Town Hall has put out to tender for 97,948 euros the works to drill a new well in Les Rotgetes with the aim of increasing available resources and reinforcing the supply of drinking water to this urbanization and the Jardín de Flores area.
The tender was published this Friday, one week after the Directorate-General for Water Resources authorized the execution of the new drilling. The action aims to respond to the vulnerability situation in which the two urbanizations have been left after the breakdown of one of the two wells that currently supply the area. According to the City Council, this incident poses a risk in terms of having sufficient flow to cover the water needs of the residents. The new well must allow the system to be reinforced and move towards a more stable solution.
A drilling of up to 280 meters
The project foresees the drilling of a borehole up to 280 meters deep on a municipal property in les Rotgetes. The abstraction will be specifically for the supply of water to the population.
Interested companies can submit their offers until September 16. Once the contract is awarded and the works have begun, the drilling will have an execution period of between five and ten days. Subsequently, a gauging will be carried out to determine the real flow rate the well can provide. This result will be used to establish both the maximum annual volume of water that can be extracted and the maximum instantaneous flow rate of the abstraction.
"Speed up" the deadlines to the maximum
The mayor of Esporles, Josep Ferrà, has explained that the City Council's objective is to "speed up the deadlines as much as possible" given the supply problems suffered by Les Rotgetes and Jardín de Flores. Ferrà has argued that the new intake will allow progress towards "a stable solution" to guarantee the water supply in the area. The works will be financed through subsidies from the Water Pact, aimed at guaranteeing the supply of urban drinking water to the municipalities of Mallorca.
