Forced to work 10 hours a day in a restaurant and with a dish from the menu as salary
The National Police have arrested two women, the owners of the establishment, for a crime against workers' rights.

PalmThe National Police in Palma have arrested two women accused of running a restaurant with undocumented workers without contracts, sometimes paying them with a dish from the menu for eight- to ten-hour shifts.
In a statement on Wednesday, the police force explained that UCRIF officers have carried out various inspections in recent weeks, through which they located two women who had several undocumented workers in their restaurant.
The National Police carried out a routine inspection a few weeks ago at the restaurant, where officers located three undocumented workers. Days later, the police force carried out a second inspection, in which they located three other undocumented foreign citizens working at the establishment.
The officers confirmed that both the restaurant owner and the manager took advantage of the victims' vulnerable situation and need to exploit them for labor.
A dish from the menu as a salary
Most of the workers were illegal foreign citizens, and several received only a meal for eight- to ten-hour workdays without any wages.
Similarly, none of them were registered with Social Security, had no health insurance, and were not entitled to vacation or public holidays.
Because the situation had occurred repeatedly at the establishment, the officers arrested the women, accusing them of a crime against workers' rights.
