Former Head of Communication at Son Espases denounces humiliation: "You shut up, you have no idea"

PalmaSabrina Vidal, former head of communication at Son Espases University Hospital, has publicly denounced, through a LinkedIn post, having suffered humiliations and pressures during her time as director of the center. Vidal assures that a manager from the general management repeatedly told her "you shut up, you have no idea" in front of about fifteen people during weekly management meetings.

In her statement, Vidal recounts that she was excluded from meetings and from her team, that her work was publicly questioned, and that, as she explains, external services were even requested because she "had no idea." The former head of communication states that she used to go to work "crying every day," that she suffered anxiety attacks, and that she was on leave for two months.

"At Christmas, she removed me from the hospital management's family photo: 'Not you, you go away,' she told me in front of the flash and to the embarrassment of my colleagues, once again. She often went to complain about me to her superiors, pressuring me, insisting that I was no use to her," writes Vidal.

As she explains, the manager also reprimanded her in email threads in front of other people. "She told me I was doing my job badly without reading my reports… When I defended myself, it was because I lacked self-criticism, and she quickly stopped speaking to me," she recounts.

"I learned to survive"

"I learned to survive and presented projects through my colleagues as if they were not mine; I avoided it, but I had already achieved it: I went to work crying daily, I closed the office door so they wouldn't see me, I went unnoticed so as not to give reasons", she continues. Vidal assures that this situation ended with her departure from the management team: "By not inviting me to meetings, without saying anything; or how they requested the hiring of parallel services because I, of this, 'had no idea'."

Vidal also states that she requested a transfer and had to resort to pharmacological treatment. She concludes that making her experience public is part of her recovery process and that she also wants to serve as a recognition to colleagues who, she says, have lived or are living similar situations at Son Espases. "I am a survivor of the management of Son Espases", she finishes.
