A group of fishermen finds the corpse of a woman floating on the coast of Formentera

PalmaA group of fishermen found the lifeless body of a woman this Wednesday at noon in waters near the island of Formentera, as confirmed by the Civil Guard.

The fishermen were a mile from Punta Gavina when they spotted the corpse and notified the armed institute. At that moment, the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS) traveled to the site and at 1:15 PM recovered the body, which was wearing a life jacket.

In the coming hours, the woman's body is scheduled to be transferred to the port of Ibiza for an autopsy. The first hypothesis being considered is that it could be the body of a migrant who died during the raft journey from Algeria.

It should be remembered that the Civil Guard has intercepted 56 migrants in recent hours who arrived on board three rafts, two in Formentera and one located near the Ses Salines lighthouse, in the south of Mallorca.
