PalmThe Ibiza Council has proposed setting a maximum daily limit of 18,918 vehicles on the roads for the upcoming summer season, which is 1,250 vehicles less than last year's limit. This figure will serve as the basis for the public consultation process the Council has opened for affected sectors before approving regulations for the 2026 and 2027 summer seasons.

The Consell acknowledges that this proposal clearly accelerates the containment schedule foreseen in the technical capacity study prepared by Movytrans. With the reduction for this year and the further decrease proposed for 2027, the Consell will achieve the vehicle limit that the study placed on a five-year horizon in just two years, Administration sources emphasized. The proposal also incorporates dynamic management to improve efficiency during peak weeks by adjusting the application period, which will be from June 15 to September 15, instead of June 1 to September 30. Within the general daily vehicle limit, the proposal also sets the maximum number of self-drive rental vehicles, which is reduced for the 2026 season and anticipates a further reduction in 2027.

Data from the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) shows that the total volume of passenger and freight vehicles accumulated between June and September has decreased by approximately 30,000 vehicles. The Consell (Island Council) emphasizes that these figures confirm the positive effect of the initial regulatory measures. During the public consultation process, the directly affected sectors will be given a hearing before the full Council approves the agreement. This process will be dedicated to gathering input and refining the final text for the restrictions during the next two summers of 2026 and 2027.
