PalmThe Association for a New Agreement for the Alcudia Cable Car (ANACA) has denounced "serious contradictions" in the simultaneous planning of two key projects for the municipality: the Bonaire and Mal Pas sewer system and the overland route of the PENBAL II high-voltage cable.

In a statement, ANACA detailed that the PENBAL II project, promoted by Red Eléctrica de España (REE), aims to build a new electrical interconnection between the Peninsula and Mallorca, with a route that crosses areas of high environmental, heritage and neighborhood value in Alcúdia, such as Ferradura and Martín de Pollè.

On the other hand, the Bonaire and Mal Pas sewerage project, promoted by the Alcúdia City Council, is a long-sought infrastructure, since a thousand homes in the area operate with septic tanks, many of them located very close to the sea.

The association has explained that the sewer project is based on a 2012-2013 document and was awarded to the company G-SIX in June 2023, which completed and publicly presented it in 2024. ANACA has denounced that the City Council knew that the 2024 City Council would be able to carry it out, but nevertheless went ahead with it. Therefore, the organization believes that multi-million-dollar investments cannot be planned while the obvious incompatibilities with the cable route are ignored.
