Installation of 210 cameras to control vehicle entry into Mallorca begins

PalmaThe Consell de Mallorca has begun the installation of the first cameras in the network with 210 control devices that will monitor the roads to prevent illegal races and control the entry of vehicles to the island.

The island government has detailed that the first two teams have been installed these days on the road linking Lluc with La Calobra and at the entrance to Caimari, and are part of the 64 that will be deployed in the Serra de Tramuntana.

The future network will include five cameras at the ports of Palma and Alcúdia to regulate vehicle entry, and also 20 sound meters along the Ma-10 to measure noise levels.

Work has already begun and the complete network is expected to be installed in October. As the cameras are installed, they will start generating data, so there will be no need to wait for the entire network to be finished to put it into operation.

Regarding the five cameras planned for the ports of Alcúdia and Palma - two in the first and 3 in the second - the Consell de Mallorca is finalizing with the Port Authority the signing of a collaboration agreement in order to control and count the vehicles entering Mallorca in application of the future law.

These devices will offer exact data on the total flow of vehicles entering and leaving Mallorca through the island's ports every week, every month, and every year. In addition, they will allow the identification of vehicles with foreign license plates and the counting of rental cars passing through these port facilities.
