Interior detects in the Balearic Islands more than 4,100 cases of gender-based violence and 65 minors at risk

The Islands add 1,999 cases in which women victims of sexist violence have minors in their care

PalmaThe Ministry of the Interior has detected a total of 4,144 active cases of gender-based violence in the Balearic Islands and 65 minors who are at risk of being victims of vicarious violence. This is according to the latest statistical bulletin from the VioGén System, which compiles data available as of May 31.

By age groups, in the Archipelago there are 52 active cases of women under 18 years of age; 1,023 women between 18 and 30 years of age; 1,968 women between 31 and 45 years of age; 1,021 women between 46 and 64 years of age; and 80 women aged 65 or over.

In total, there are 3,385 cases at low risk level; 694 at medium level; 63 at high level, and two at extreme level. Of all of them, 690 cases are under the supervision of the local police forces of 28 municipalities in the Balearic Islands that are integrated into VioGén.

The Islands, in addition, add up to 1,999 cases in which women victims of gender-based violence have minors in their care. There are 65 who are at risk of being victims of vicarious violence; 60 at medium risk and 5 at high risk.

In all of Spain, always according to the Interior Ministry, there are 53,221 cases of victims of gender-based violence with minors in their care, with 1,543 at risk of being assaulted by the mother's abuser. Currently, there are four cases of this type at extreme risk; 141 at high risk, and 1,398 at medium risk.
