PalmA worker at the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS) has decided to go public with his situation after a year he describes as a professional and personal ordeal, marked—according to his complaint—by episodes of harassment, disciplinary sanctions without clear grounds, and a complete lack of institutional support. The case, which dates back to 2024, has resulted in the worker undergoing psychological treatment due to what he describes as a suffocating work environment. In this context, he recounts that in May of last year, a disciplinary file was opened against him, leading to his suspension and a significant loss of income, a decision he directly attributes to the management of the center where he worked. According to him, throughout the entire process, he was not provided with conclusive evidence or full access to the file documentation, which he considers a violation of his most basic rights as a public employee.

Faced with this situation, he activated the internal protocol against harassment, a mechanism that, according to regulations, should have been resolved within a month. Far from it, he reports that the process has been stalled for months, without any real investigation or support from the Administration, prolonging a situation of anguish and helplessness.

The case has been publicized by a group of workers who warn of an internal system based on opacity, missed deadlines, and the use of financial penalties as a pressure tactic.

The complaint also points to a lack of union support. Specifically, the worker asserts that the CCOO branch at IMAS offered him neither effective legal advice nor genuine follow-up on the case, a situation that led him to leave the union after receiving no response from its higher bodies either. The authors of the statement emphasize that this is not an isolated case and warn that this type of behavior can discourage other professionals from reporting harassment for fear of retaliation, especially in sensitive areas such as child protection, where workers face a high emotional burden. Therefore, they are calling for structural changes at IMAS (Mallorca Institute of Social Affairs) to guarantee the mental health of professionals, the effective defense of labor rights, and transparent operation of the public administration.
