PalmThe Civil Guard, in coordination with the Pollença Local Police, has arrested a man who had barricaded himself in a country house and threatened to commit suicide. He also said he would attack anyone who tried to approach. According to Europa Press, the man was carrying a chainsaw and warned that he would set fire to the house and even blow it up. The detainee had stated that he did not want any contact with the police and that, otherwise, he would carry out his threat.

Due to the risk of escape and flight, a security perimeter was established, as the house had access to a wooded area. Shortly after, a large fire broke out in the bushes near the property. Apparently, the man had doused the bushes with fuel and then thrown something from the window to make them take fire.

Firefighters, escorted by the Civil Guard and the Local Police, entered the scene and extinguished the flames. At that point, the man threw a large flare from one of the house's windows, which reignited the fire.

Once the flames were under control, the barricaded man left through the main door and threw a can of fuel onto the fire, which was almost extinguished. At that moment, an officer intercepted him.

The Civil Guard located three machetes inside the house prepared for a possible confrontation, and a strong smell of gas was noticed, possibly due to carrying out his threat to blow up the house. However, the 27-year-old man has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of attacking law enforcement officers and making death threats.
