Man imprisoned for abusing his wife and three children in Maria de la Salut

PalmA judge has remanded a 59-year-old man in custody after he was arrested by the Civil Guard on March 18 in Maria de la Salut, accused of abusing and controlling his wife and three minor children. According to police sources on Wednesday, a social worker from the Maria de la Salut Town Hall alerted them on March 18 that a woman she was assisting was suffering serious abuse at the hands of her husband. The municipal worker explained that the abuse was not only directed at the wife, but that the three minor children were also victims. Following this report, and after taking a statement from the victim, a Civil Guard patrol, accompanied by the Local Police, went to the family home that same afternoon and arrested the 59-year-old man. The Civil Guard arrested him on charges of domestic abuse, and he was subsequently remanded in custody after appearing before a judge. Social services took charge of the mother and children, who have been transferred to a shelter.
