PalmaThe National Police have arrested a man for the fire that burned three caravans this Wednesday at the Son Hugo sports center parking lot, in the Son Oliva neighborhood (Palma).
The Robbery Group managed to identify the alleged perpetrator of the fire and arrested him this Wednesday, after 8:00 PM. This was detailed by the National Police, who noted that despite the arrest, the investigation remains open and no hypothesis is ruled out.
It should be remembered that the Social Services of the Palma City Council offered accommodation to four people who requested it after the fire of three caravans in the Son Hugo settlement, which occurred around 1:00 PM.
After the fire, the Palma City Council gave a 48-hour deadline to all occupants of the caravans in Son Hugo to remove butane cylinders, flammable material, and any item from the exterior of the vehicles.
"Do not use the fire to evict the residents"
Més per Palma has demanded that Cort guarantee the safety of the Son Hugo parking lot following the fire and that it does not take advantage of the event to evict the entire settlement without offering residential alternatives.
The party's spokesperson, Neus Truyol, has accused the mayor, Jaime Martínez, of becoming the "main evictor of Palma" and has warned that they will not allow a new expulsion of vulnerable people without a housing solution.
Truyol has argued that living in a caravan is not a choice, but a consequence of the housing crisis, and has demanded more public housing, residential alternatives, and measures against real estate speculation.
