PalmThe First Section of the Provincial Court of Palma began the trial this Tuesday of a man accused of repeatedly raping his daughter for more than ten years. The prosecution is seeking a 36-year prison sentence for three counts of continuous sexual assault with violence and intimidation, charges which he denies through his defense, which maintains that the accused "is not as he is portrayed" and that he is a "good father," according to the man's current partner, who is not the mother of the imprisoned woman.

The trial began with the testimony of the victim's mother, who appeared from a separate room to avoid encountering the accused. The woman explained that the doll revealed the events to her "little by little, as she felt stronger," and stated that the man used violence against the minor to commit the abuses. According to her account, the events allegedly occurred in several homes where the family lived between 2010 and 2020, as well as other locations.

The mother asserted that the initial accounts the doll conveyed to her "were just the tip of the iceberg," and recounted that the child also described behaviors she considered anomalous and alarming. She also accused the defendant of mistreating the daughter and the young son, and stated that some incidents allegedly occurred in the presence of the brother.

Professional Testimonies and Aftermath

A social worker who attended to the minor in Palmanova testified that the doll expressed "anger" towards the father and showed a deep distrust of him. According to the worker, during this period the victim engaged in self-harm episodes that required several hospitalizations between 2021 and 2023. Reports included in the case indicate that the minor has required ongoing psychological and psychiatric support as a result of the emotional trauma. Legal Background

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the abuse allegedly began when the doll was four years old and was repeated at different times until 2021. In 2020, a court specializing in violence against women in Palma suspended the visitation rights following the initial revelations. In 2022, another court convicted the man of assaulting his daughter, although he had not yet been imprisoned for these offenses. The trial will continue this Wednesday with further testimony, while the defendant is scheduled to appear last.
