Minute of silence in Sant Llorenç for the eighth anniversary of the flash flood in which 13 people died
PalmaResidents and authorities of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar held a minute of silence this Friday in memory of the 13 people who died in the flash flood that occurred in the municipality on October 9, 2018.
The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, pointed out in a message shared on social media that it is "one of the most tragic episodes in the history of the Balearic Islands".
Prohens has conveyed her "deepest" remembrance to the victims and their families and has recognized the work of emergency personnel and volunteers who "helped the town get back on its feet".
"The Government is taking steps to ensure the safety of Sant Llorenç", assured the president, who highlighted that in this legislative term, the works for the bypass have been unblocked and initiated.
In this sense, she pointed out that it is a "fundamental" action that will contribute to preventing a tragedy like the one that happened from happening again.
