More than 100 delays and 22 cancellations at Balearic airports due to storm warnings

According to Aena, Son Sant Joan has accumulated 98 delayed flights: 43 departures and 55 arrivals. Two flights scheduled to arrive from Paris have also been canceled.

Menorca Airport currently has 12 canceled flights between departures and arrivals, all with connections to Barcelona. Ibiza, although not experiencing any significant incidents early this morning, has accumulated around ten cancellations of flights connecting to El Prat.

Thursday's delays add to yesterday's, which became widespread starting around midday. Son Sant Joan had up to 64 delayed flights and two cancellations after 4:30 p.m.

The shipping operator Enaire has indicated on social media that adverse weather is still forecast for the archipelago this Thursday, meaning that connections between Barcelona and Palma are expected to be primarily affected during the day.

It's worth remembering that the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an orange warning for storms and heavy rainfall in Mallorca and Menorca this Thursday, which could result in up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour in some areas.

According to information from Aemet, the warnings were issued at 10:00 a.m. There is particular risk in the Tramuntana mountain range, the north, inland, and east of Mallorca, as well as Menorca. A yellow alert has also been issued in southern Mallorca, where records of up to 20 liters per square meter in one hour are expected.
