A mural by Joan Aguiló commemorates the 50 years of the Asnimo Foundation
The work, created with the support of the Guillem Cifre de Colonya Foundation, transforms the facade of the entity's supervised housing
PalmaThe Asnimo Foundation has inaugurated a double mural on the facade of its supervised housing units to mark the entity's 50th anniversary. The mural is the work of Majorcan artist Joan Aguiló and was supported by the Guillem Cifre de Colonya Foundation, which has thus joined the commemoration of the foundation's half-century of work dedicated to the care of people with disabilities.
The mural aims to reflect the essence of the Asnimo Foundation and the path traveled over 50 years. Aguiló explains that, for him, the entity symbolizes "a great family that works for and with people with disabilities" and carries out an essential task of social inclusion.
The artistic intervention is divided into two paintings. One represents a boy and a girl—she with Down syndrome—sharing a watermelon, while the other reproduces a landscape characteristic of the Balearic Islands.
A transit space that aims to become a leisure area
The Asnimo Foundation highlights that the mural has changed the appearance of one of the most frequented areas of the entity. The space, which currently functions as a passage area, is also intended to be converted into a leisure spot for users. The director of the foundation, Tolo Márquez, has expressed his gratitude for the support of the Guillem Cifre de Colonya Foundation and the work of Joan Aguiló. As he explained, the intention is to complete the project during the first quarter of next year.
Juan José Caldés, head of Institutional Relations and Ethical Savings at Colonya Caixa Pollença, has highlighted the entity's satisfaction with having participated in the initiative and having been able to follow the entire creative process closely. Joan Aguiló is a Majorcan artist trained in illustration at the Higher School of Design of the Balearic Islands and holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. His work can be found in various places such as Mallorca, Barcelona, Madrid, Stockholm, London, and Berlin.
