New orange alert in the Balearic Islands: Waves ten meters high and wind gusts of 80 km/h

The warning mainly affects the coasts of Ibiza, Formentera and the south and east of Mallorca, while the interior of the Islands remains on yellow alert

PalmThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued an orange alert for most of the Balearic coast due to waves that can occasionally reach 10 meters in height and declared a yellow alert in the interior of the archipelago due to southwest winds of 80 kilometers per hour.

From 12 noon this Thursday, winds of force 8-9, between 55 and 70 km/h, will blow along the coasts of Ibiza, Formentera, and the south and east of Mallorca, where waves will rise to four to six meters and could reach up to 10 meters. Along the Tramuntana coast and the north and northeast of Mallorca, a yellow alert is in effect for winds of up to 60 km/h and waves of three to four meters.

In the interior of the Pitiusas Islands and Mallorca, a yellow alert will be in effect from midday for west and southwest winds with gusts of 80 km/h.

This same situation will extend to the coastal waters and interior of Menorca from 2 p.m. and will remain throughout the archipelago until midnight.
