Orange alert in Menorca and yellow alert in Mallorca due to strong winds and storms
Waves of up to nine meters in height are also expected.
PalmThe State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated yellow warnings for wind in Mallorca and orange warnings in Menorca for strong wind, storms and coastal phenomena this Saturday.
According to Aemet (the Spanish State Meteorological Agency), wind gusts of between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour (km/h) are expected in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range and in the north and northeast of Mallorca. In these areas, waves could reach up to four meters in height. In Menorca, maximum wind gusts could exceed 80 km/h this Saturday, while northerly swells of four to five meters in height and maximum waves that could reach eight or nine meters are expected. Likewise, the Balearic Islands' 112 Emergency Service has maintained the Level 1 Severity Index (IG-1) of the Meteobal Plan active in Menorca since Friday due to coastal phenomena, and the IG-0 Severity Index for wind across all the islands.
