Outrage among train users over lack of information when incidents occur

The association demands real solutions and transparency in the Mallorca Railway Services (SFM).

PalmThe lack of reliable and immediate information is once again causing discontent among train users in the Balearic Islands. The Train Users Association issued a new statement today criticizing the "silence and disregard for information" of Servicios Ferroviarios de Mallorca (SFM) when service incidents occur.

According to the organization, no announcements are made over the PA system on the platforms, electronic screens display incorrect information, the helpline goes unanswered, and users are left unprotected and without resources to find out if they will be late for work or if the delay could last for minutes.

The association denounces that this situation is not new and that they have been demanding specific improvements to SFM's communications system for years. Although the management of the public company has repeatedly expressed its understanding, no effective changes have materialized.

Among the association's measures, they propose incorporating more specialized communications personnel, establishing the position of an announcer to provide real-time information at stations and trains, activating efficient telephone support services throughout service hours, reinstating the WhatsApp incident service (tel. 6329), information screens, opening real channels for in-person suggestions and complaints at stations, and allowing the participation of user representative entities on the SFM Board of Directors.

The association asserts that SFM is fully aware of the solutions that should be applied, but that it does not prioritize them or cannot implement them due to a lack of budget allocated by the Government.

Finally, they demand that public services be truly transparent and participatory, and that users be given a voice in the planning and supervision of railway services.
