On the first day of the general policy debate in Parliament, the President of the Government, Marga Prohens, stated this Tuesday that "the deception in the Administration for the declaration as a strategic project conditioned to the maintenance of a symbol of the food industry such as Agama, which has not been fulfilled, will not go unpunished." As ARA Baleares advanced, the Government is considering withdrawing the declaration that the Executive granted to Agama only 20 months before the company announced that In 2026, it would stop buying milk in Mallorca.

To grant the project the status of a strategic project, the Ministry of Agriculture set a condition: that investments in the dairy sector be maintained, a requirement that will not be met with the halt in purchases from local producers. Therefore, at the next Industry Council, the Director General of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Fernández, will present the proposal to withdraw the declaration.

On December 1, 2023, the Governing Council decreed the importance of the project that the company that owns Agama, Damm SA, was proposing at that time. Regarding dairy production, the proposal, which was expected to receive funding from the European Next Generation funds, foresaw improvement actions in the Palma procession.

The company wanted to expand its production capacity with "the incorporation of a new returnable and non-returnable glass packaging line, a new yogurt production and packaging line, its own wastewater treatment plant, and a self-consumption photovoltaic plant on the roof." According to the report prepared for the declaration as a strategic project by the Government, all of this was to represent "a fundamental boost for the local primary sector, specifically the livestock sector."

The project not only included these actions. It also included a new microbrewery plant for the local production of the Rosa Blanca brand, as well as a beer dilution and loading facility.beer drive"to minimize the number of shipments from the Peninsula of beers manufactured by Damm." This plant was to have its own wastewater treatment plant and an energy room.

All of this involved developing a new logistics center in Palma, with "the necessary storage and building areas" to house the microbrewery and beer dilution plant. Digitalization systems were to be incorporated for logistics tasks, and the self-consumption solar plant on the roof was to be added," as explained in the strategic project declaration. In addition, a space with charging stations for electric vehicles was planned, as well as "the replacement of diesel vehicles with electric ones for the marketing and distribution of 2~B2 beverages." As of 2025, no information has been reported on the start of construction of these facilities or on the planned renovations to boost the Agama plant and provide it with greater capacity and products, always derived from milk.
