PSOE and MÉS censure the cancellation of the 'Flip Up' program and the loss of the professionals' jobs
The opposition parties in the Council ask for explanations because the institution had already announced that the program would have continuity
PalmaThe PSOE and MÉS per Mallorca have criticized that the mental health program Flip Up. Turn your emotions around will not continue this school year due to "an error in the administrative processing" by the Council of Mallorca. The cancellation leaves more than 4,000 Vocational Training students without this resource and also puts at risk the jobs of the professionals from the entity 3 Salut Mental who develop the program.
The two opposition groups have demanded explanations and accountability from the Council, especially because the island institution had announced in June that the program would continue during the 2026-2027 academic year, with a budget of 131,246 euros. Socialist Joan Méndez has described the situation as "unacceptable" and has demanded that the program be restored immediately. MÉS, for its part, has registered questions to clarify how it was processed, when the error was detected, and who is responsible for it.
The Flip Up program reached 4,007 students in 30 educational centers last school year through 424 workshops on promoting emotional well-being and mental health prevention. According to data provided by the parties, 213 young people requested professional help or emotional counseling after participating. MÉS has recalled that the initiative was born from a proposal of theirs approved by the plenary session of the Council.
The parties also question why the Council announced the continuity of the program if there were administrative problems that could prevent its execution. The Mental Health Federation had already denounced that the disappearance of Flip Up means losing a prevention tool that had reached thousands of students, in addition to the work carried out by professionals during the previous school year.
