Public school teachers will earn 0.5% more, retroactive to 2024.

PalmThe Ministry of Education and Universities will apply an additional 0.5% increase in the salaries of public teaching staff to the August 2025 payroll, in compliance with the provisions of Royal Decree-Law 4/2024 and the agreement approved by the Governing Council on July 11.

In the specific case of public teaching staff, 17,961 people, the payment of this increase will entail a total cost in delays of just over five million euros, corresponding to the period between January 2024 and July 2025.

2024, responds to the need to protect the purchasing power of public workers against the evolution of the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). According to data certified by the National Statistics Institute, the sum of the HICP variation for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024 was 12%, while the cumulative fixed salary increase was 8%, which triggers the application of this additional increase.

2.9% payment starting in September

Furthermore, it should be remembered that from September 2025, the Regional Ministry will automatically pay 65% of the amount corresponding to the refund of 2.9% of the supplementary remuneration to the affected teaching staff, in compliance with the ruling of the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands.

The remaining 35% will be paid in February 2026. This measure amounts to a total of approximately €35 million and affects approximately 19,450 teachers, including the amounts not paid during the years 2021 and 2022 (in addition to the 2:2 interest) as well as the arrears corresponding to the years 2023 and 2024. The amounts corresponding to the year 2020 that remained unpaid and were not included in the execution of the ruling will be paid during the first half of 2026.
