A sailboat catches fire near Illetes beach in Formentera.

PalmA fire burned a sailboat near Illetes beach, Formentera, this Thursday. According to the Formentera Regional Council, the emergency services received the call at around 12:30 p.m. and dispatched firefighters and local police to the scene.

Upon arrival, the occupants had already abandoned the boat in an auxiliary vessel. Firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire with motor pumps, towing the sailboat out to sea once the Maritime Rescue unit was activated.
