Mercedes Celeste remarks that they still do not know if they will relocate the Bellver playground
PalmaPalma City Council has begun the procedures to contract the shows and children's activities for Sant Sebastià Petit, which will be held on January 10th at Sa Riera park, and for La Rueta, scheduled for February 6th in various spaces in the city center.
The governing board approved this Wednesday the initiation of the contracting files for artistic and production services, as well as the children's, socio-educational, and recreational activities for both celebrations.
As detailed by the municipal spokesperson at Cort, Mercedes Celeste, in a press conference, the program will include musical entertainment, parades, theater, puppets, magic, and circus shows, in addition to games, workshops, a climbing wall, and spaces for children up to three years old.
The governing board also approved starting the contracting for the rental and assembly of the stages and other necessary installations for the Sant Sebastià festivities, which will be distributed among the squares of Joan Carles I, la Reina, Espanya, Major, and Cort.
Furthermore, it has given the green light to the file to contract the supply of pyrotechnic material intended for the 'correfocs' (fire runs) and other festive activities of 2027, with an estimated value of 67,786 euros.
The contract will include material for the lighting of the bonfire and the Sant Sebastià Correfoc, as well as for the arrival of the Three Kings, the Sant Joan Correfoc, and the Night of the Souls.
Children's playground at Bellver Castle
Asked about the possible relocation of the zip line and picnic tables removed from Bellver Castle park, Celeste clarified that in principle the City Council does not have on the table the idea of replicating the zip line in any other space.
The spokesperson specified that, once the current action is finished and completed, the City Council will evaluate if there is a new suitable location or if it is determined that these are elements that do not correspond to the type of uses for these areas.
In this sense, she nuanced that the picnic tables will not be relocated, but that the facilities intended for leisure could indeed have a place in some other part of the city. "It is something that when we finish with this action and everything is completed, we will see," said the spokesperson.
