PalmaThe Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands has convicted this Wednesday the six young people accused of humiliating and assaulting a young man with an intellectual disability in Manacor in 2021, after all of them have admitted the facts in the trial held by conformity.

The Second Section of the Court has declared them guilty of a crime against moral integrity, a minor offense of injuries, and a crime of coercion. For these acts, each of the defendants has been sentenced to 5 months in prison for the crime against moral integrity, a fine of 20 days with a daily rate of 5 euros for the injuries, and a fine of 9 months, also with a daily rate of 5 euros, for the crime of coercion.

In addition, the six convicted must jointly compensate the victim with 18,160.34 euros and will not be able to communicate or approach them within 250 meters. According to the facts admitted by the defendants, the young man, who has a recognized disability of 38%, was subjected to a supposed competition devised by the defendants during which he suffered a succession of vexations and assaults. Among other actions, they tattooed a penis on his face, gave him another tattoo on his face, shaved and tattooed his eyebrows, tattooed a bra on his chest, tattooed an ear, placed piercings on him, immobilized his wrists with zip ties, burned his lips with glue, and pricked the sole and toes of one foot.

The court considers that the victim could not give valid consent to the acts to which he was subjected due to his disability, which is why the facts constitute a serious violation of moral integrity. The sentence has been handed down after the defendants accepted the penalties and previously deposited the compensation to repair the damage caused. This reparation, together with the undue delays in the processing of the procedure, has been appreciated as an attenuating circumstance. As the Prosecutor's Office stated, the case was paralyzed in several periods between 2023 and 2025 for reasons unrelated to the defendants. The Provincial Court will make the full sentence public in the coming days.
