Serious accident on Avenidas caused by a drunk driver
The officers determined that the main cause was lack of attention
PalmThe Palma Local Police's Vehicle Accident Unit (UVAC) responded to a serious traffic accident on Alexandre Rosselló Avenue, caused by a distracted, intoxicated driver. The incident occurred at 1:40 a.m. on February 23rd at the intersection with Sindicat Street in Palma. According to the accident reconstruction, the 25-year-old driver of a car lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed directly into the concrete median separating the two directions of traffic. Officers determined that the primary cause was inattention. The driver herself told officers that she had turned around to speak with two friends who were passengers in the car and, upon looking back at the road, was unable to avoid the collision. As a result of the impact, both passengers suffered minor injuries and were treated by an ambulance that arrived at the scene. When given a breathalyzer test, the woman registered a positive result of 0.58 mg/l of exhaled air. For this reason, she was cited administratively.
