PalmSon Espases University Hospital has begun to reschedule non-urgent surgeries and reinforce the emergency service staff due to the peak in healthcare demand registered since Wednesday, a situation that has also forced a review of the planned activity for next week.

As reported by the center's management, the increase in pressure is mainly due to the rise in admissions of patients with complex pathologies. These are cases that require more intensive care, longer hospital stays, and high resource utilization, which has generated strain in both emergency and hospitalization units.

Faced with this scenario, the hospital center has activated a set of urgent measures to ensure care continuity and minimize the impact on ordinary operations. Among these actions, the maintenance of activity at Verge de la Salut Hospital stands out, as well as the rescheduling of non-urgent interventions to free up beds for patients requiring priority attention.

The plan also includes staffing reinforcements in emergency services and the maintenance of winter plan teams in the units most affected by the increased demand, in addition to reviewing all scheduled activity for the coming days.

In parallel, a discharge plan has been activated that promotes Home Hospitalization for clinically stable patients, the referral of long-convalescence cases to socio-sanitary centers, and the return of stabilized patients to their original hospitals.

Furthermore, the center is working to ensure the opening of beds during the summer period with the aim of optimizing healthcare capacity. The management has assured that the situation is continuously monitored to adapt measures based on demand evolution and to progressively restore operational normality.
