PalmaThe Teachers' Assembly has agreed to allocate 100,000 euros from its strike fund to support educational strikes in the Valencian Country and Catalonia. The decision was made this Monday during an urgent general assembly held at IES Berenguer, in a context marked by the reactivation of educational mobilizations in Catalan-speaking territories and by the labor conflict in the 0-3 sector in the Balearic Islands.

According to the collective, 50,000 euros will be contributed to each of the strike funds set up for the mobilized teachers of the Valencian Country and Catalonia. The money comes from the strike fund created during the indefinite strike in 2013 during the Government of José Ramón Bauzá.

The Assembly defends that “due to the coordinated attacks against public education, the response must also be collective and solidarity among territories and educational stages”. In this regard, they consider that the demands share the same origin: “years of cuts, precariousness, and planned destruction of public education”.

During the meeting, it was also agreed to make ourselves available to the 0-3 workers collective to support their labor and educational demands. The teaching collective assures that the situation of this sector is part of “the same offensive” against working conditions and public services.

The Assembly of Teachers calls to “reorganize the centers, reactivate the assemblies, and rebuild a strong and sustained collective response”. Along these lines, they announce that in the coming weeks they will promote assertive actions in the educational centers of the Islands. Furthermore, the collective has called a new general assembly for next June 25 to begin preparing the mobilizations and work lines for the next academic year.
