The Balearic Islands beat a new record of tourists until July: almost 200,000 more than in 2025

PalmaThe tourist train continues at full steam in the Balearic Islands, despite citizen protests and political promises and laments. There isn't a year that the Islands don't break records since the pandemic ended, and the data suggests this year will be no exception. This Tuesday, Ibestat released the tourist data up to July: 11,189,324 people, 1.77% more than in the same period last year (from January to July 2025 there were approximately 10,995,000 tourists).

More than eight million tourists chose Mallorca as their main destination (1.69% more), while 2,124,644 arrived in Ibiza and Formentera (1.40% more) and 1,024,644 in Menorca. It is precisely this island that has experienced the greatest growth in tourists compared to the first seven months of 2025, with an increase of 3.14%.

The number of international tourists between January and July has been 9,164,483, 1.85% more than in the same period of 2025. Tourists from other autonomous communities have also increased: 2,024,842 people have visited the Islands, 1.41% more than last year. According to Ibestat, the Balearic Islands are the second territory in the State that receives the most foreign tourists in absolute terms after Catalonia, which by July had accumulated almost 12 million.

Tourist rental prices fall, except in Ibiza

Regarding the type of accommodation, more tourists have opted for a hotel: 7,738,928, 5.22% more than in 2025. On the other hand, tourist rentals are losing customers, both legal and irregular. 1,138,756 people have opted for legal tourist rentals in the Balearic Islands between January and July, 0.52% less than last year. As for irregular rentals, they have accommodated 1,429,253 people, 8.12% less than in 2025. Even so, more tourists opt for rentals outside the market than for legal ones, almost 300,000 more. However, in Ibiza and Formentera, irregular rentals are not only holding on but growing, specifically by 4% compared to last year. Almost 300,000 people have opted for rentals outside the market in these islands. The number of tourists who own property in the Balearic Islands and have used it between January and July is also noteworthy: 591,979 people, 5.30% of the total visitors to the Balearic Islands.

Infrastructure such as Palma Airport continues to boost visitor arrivals to the Balearic Islands, even during peak season. The 19.6 million passengers registered between January and July this year at Son Sant Joan represent 2.8 million more than during the same period in 2019, the last full year before the pandemic, which was then already considered a record tourist year. This represents an increase of 16.7% in just seven years.
